My homewaters

As the nice September weather continues I took a short trip at about 10 km close to home. This is att Sunnanå yacht harbor on Lake Vänern. A beautiful afternoon where I practiced my strokes and steering.

The days are getting shorter, I work a lot and soon the autumn will be here in full force. That means some less kayaking now but I hope to paddle an average of 2-3 times a week. The last five months there has been 3-4 days a week.

I also start planning for next year. My plans are to build a Black Pearl kayak and in the summer go to Helgeland in north Norway to kayak for two weeks. Hope to bring some friends with me.

Enjoy my photos from a colorful September

The lighthouse Högeholme will soon be in use again. The local yacht club will take care of it.

On my way

After a hectic start of the week I started from home on Wednesady morning towards Torpshammar in the exact middle of Sweden. As the trip is about 900 km I did it in two days and stayed one night by a small lake in Dalarna.
I was a cold morning but very beautiful with a clear sky as the sun was comming up. Then it was again behind the wheel and driving through  Mora, Sveg and other small towns in the centre of Sweden. In the efternoon I arrived at Torpshammar and met Lena Conlan from Crossing Latitudes (and NOLS) as well as Sabine who was also taking this course with me two years ago. So tomorrow startes the refresher course for Wilderness First Responder (WFR).

Night!

Morning and about -5 degrees centigrade.

I was between two small lakes. This is the other one in the morning sun.

Autumn is here

After a night working overtime I went down to the old and beautiful town Hjo to meet a kayaking friend.  Frida wanted to test my Nordkapp as she is on the way to buy a kayak and don't know which one yet.
We went to the lake Mullsjön for her to test my Nordkapp. Some roll practice was also planned.

After a rainy day the evening was very nice and again this September it was a very nice sunset. We did do some roll training and for the first time Frida made a roll. Congratulations Frida! Good job! And again my Anas Acuta was the kayak to roll with. The Nordkapp is not hard to roll but the Anas Acuta makes it very easy.

I did some rolls as well but I broke my paddle. Well it was getting a bit worn and I had the feeling this was going to happen sooner or later. It was sooner. Never mind, it just makes it more urgent to make a new paddle.

On my way home the wind and rain was back and a lot of yellow leaves from the trees were on the road. Autumn!

Broken!
